This website was designed to provide updated and accurate information to the members and beneficiaries of the Watertown Contributory Retirement System. This information is not intended as a substitute for the Massachusetts General Laws nor will its’ interpretation prevail should a conflict arise between its’ contents and MGL Chapter 32. Rules governing retirement benefits are subject to change periodically either by statute of the Massachusetts Legislature or by regulation of the Watertown Retirement Board.
There are 104 contributory retirement systems for public employees in Massachusetts. A retirement board governs each system. All boards operate independently however, they are bound together under one retirement law; Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 32.
All 104 retirement systems are overseen by the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC).
