Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 32, section 20 (4)(b), and 840 Code of Massachusetts Regulations 7.00, the Watertown Retirement Board shall be required to conduct an election of the Elected Member’s position on the Watertown Retirement Board, currently held by Thomas V. Thibaut, Jr. If an election is necessary, the process will be as follows:
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE:Members active in or retired from the Watertown Contributory Retirement System are eligible to run for the Elected Member’s position.Members inactive have the right to vote in board elections, but do not have the right to serve in the Elected Member’s position.
TERM:The 3-year term will begin on October 16, 2017 and expire on October 15, 2020.
NOMINATION PAPERS:Nomination Papers may be secured at the office of the Watertown Retirement Board beginning on Thursday, July 13, 2017 to be returned no later than 5:00PM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
BALLOTS:If necessary, Ballots will be mailed to all active, inactive and retired members of the Watertown Contributory Retirement System on or about Tuesday, September 05, 2017. Returned Ballots shall be postmarked no later than Friday, September 22, 2017.
COUNTING:Envelopes will be opened and ballots counted on Friday, October 13, 2017.
